Balanced Spiritual Exercise

Rainbow Healing Rainbow Healing

It is essential to be balanced and take good care of yourself when working with spiritual energy - just like you take care of yourself when you workout physically.

The purpose of working intentfully with spiritual energy is to create positive change in your "spiritual body" - but since your spiritual body permeates your physical body, and all your feelings and thoughts, you have to be sure to take good care of all levels of your being.

The type of energy you bring into your personal space depends on the spiritual practice you do. For example, some meditation techniques focus on relaxing and calming your body and emotions, some seek to bring stillness to your mind, others on awakening kundalini. They all evoke different energies - and have a different effect on your body, your consciousness, and your inner self.

No different to physical exercise

A good way to think of it is that working out with spiritual energy is no different to working out physically:

  • You need to assess where you are at, and start at the right point
There's no point deciding to be a marathon runner and starting your training with a 42km/26mile run 5x a week!
  • You need a complete program to develop all the strengths you need
If you are going to be a marathon runner, you don't just run ... you need the right balance of aerobic fitness, endurance, flexibility, strength, the right diet, etc
  • You need a balanced approach
If you start new physical excercise your muscles are likely to ache and complain - and while you need to push through that to build up your strength, you must also avoid over-pushing or you can cause strain and injury
  • You only gain the benefits when you follow a regular routine, and stick at it for long enough to create the changes

It is exactly the same when you start exercising with spiritual energy!

If anything, it is harder - because we are not taught about different types of energy tools and their effects, nor learn the signs and symptoms of when our inner self is 'over exercised' and feeling strained.

Key points to balanced spiritual exercise

If you want to work with spiritual exercise such as the meditations and energy tools I offer, follow these basic principles:

  1. Decide your best starting point
Don't rush into this sort of energy work, and be particularly careful if you are dealing with any deep psychological challenges, or have taken any strong drugs of any kind, as you may need healing first. These things can be like scars and wounds in your inner self, and some energies may aggravate and inflame them, rather than heal.
  2. Start gently, like you would with new physical exercise
Pace yourself. Take the time to observe and learn how the energies affect you, as you work with these spiritual practices.  What is happening in your feelings, thoughts and your physical body? Your reactions will also change as the energies work through you, heal you and awaken your inner self over time. This is the wonderful journey of consciousness! Observe when you need to push through, and when you just need to chill out.
  3. Plan a program, and give it a chance!
  4. Just like with physical exercise, some days you will feel great, and some days you will find it hard work! While being gentle with yourself is essential, it is also essential to give energy work time to have effects. Don't expect an instant change, or an instant fix - even though you may experience some instant effects.
