Prayers, decrees and affirmations are age-old, universal tools for creating positive change in you, and in our world. So is meditation, but you can find all about that in the Meditation section of this website.

When you give your intent to any spiritual practice, you create positive energy. Any time of day or night, our attunement and wish for positive effects facilitates the descent of light and healing. The more we give our intent to this, no matter what our religion, belief or race, the more can be done.

Please make sure you read about Balanced Spiritual Exercise before you use these tools!

How to work with these prayers, decress and affirmations

  • Choose the energy or effect you are seeking - whether transformation, healing, forgiveness, upliftment, etc.
  • Repeat one or more for some minutes each day, either out loud or silently within.
If you wish to use more than one decree, take at least some minutes on each so you can build up the energy and absorb the effects before you use another. In general, don't mix too many energies together at the one time.
  • You can sit quietly and meditatively while you say them, or say them while walking or doing other light activities that don't require your full concentration. They are great to use when you are in shopping centers or busy places, to help sustain your inner light and protect you!
  • It is good to visualise what you are asking for in the words, or at least imagine the appropriate colour of light being around you, as that will strengthen the effect. However, don't worry if you do not see anything. If you put your intent into it, it is as good as seeing it and the effects will come.
  • Be sure NEVER to use these tools when you are driving a car, or doing activities that really require your full attention! They do affect your consciousness, and may cause you to be distracted.

Just 5-10 minutes work each day can help you transform and heal limitations and patterns you want to change, and build up positive energy in your life.

All the energies you can call upon with these decrees, prayers and affirmations have healing effects. Try them out, and learn what helps you the most in the different situations of your life. Use of these energy tools will help you strengthen your own insight and understanding of how to work with the colours of the heart.

There is one source of light and grace. This collection of prayers for peace are from traditions built in different hues of that one light. You might also like to see invocations, affirmations and decrees for your own self healing.

Prayers of the One Heart

The Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred ... let me sow love
Where there is injury ... pardon
Where there is doubt ... faith
Where there is despair ... hope
Where there is darkness ... light
Where there is sadness ... joy

Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled ... as to console
To be understood ... as to understand,
To be loved ... as to love
For it is in giving ... that we receive,
It is in pardoning, that we are pardoned,
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life

Baha'i Prayer for Peace

Be generous in prosperity,
and thankful in adversity.
Be fair in judgment,
and guarded in thy speech,
Be a lamp unto those who walk
in darkness, and a home
to the stranger.
Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light
unto the feet of the erring
Be a breath of life to the body of
humankind, a dew to the soil of
the human heart,
and a fruit upon the tree of humility.

Buddhist Prayer for Peace

May all beings everywhere plagued
with sufferings of body and mind
quickly be freed from their illnesses.
May those frightened cease to be afraid,
and may those bound be free.
May the powerless find power,
and may people think of befriending
one another.
May those who find themselves in trackless,
fearful wilderness---
the children, the age, the unprotected--
be guarded by beneficial celestials,
and may they swiftly attain Buddhahood

Hindu Prayer for Peace

Oh God, lead us from the unreal to the Real.
Oh God, lead us from darkness to light.
Oh God, lead us from death to immortality.
Shanti, Shanti, Shanti unto all.
Oh Lord God almighty, may there be peace in celestial regions.
May there be peace on Earth.
May the waters be appeasing.
May herbs be wholesome, and may trees plants bring peace to all.
May all beneficent beings bring peace to us.
May thy Vedic Law propogate peace all through the world.
May all things be a source of peace to us.
And may thy peace itself, bestow peace on all and may that peace come to me also.

Jainist Prayer for Peace

Peace and Universal Love is the essence
of the Gospel preached by all
Enlightened Ones.
The Lord has preached that equanimity
is the dharma
Forgive do I creatures all,
and let all creatures forgive me.
Unto all have I amity, and unto none enmity.
Know that violence is the root cause of
all miseries in the world.
Violence, in fact, is the knot of bondage.
"Do not injure any living being."
This is the eternal, perrinial, and unalterable
way of spiritual life.
A weapon, howsoever powerful it may be,
can always be superseded by a superior one;
but no weapon can, however,
be superior to non-violence and love.

Muslim Prayer for Peace

In the name of Allah,
the beneficent, the merciful.
Praise be to the Lord of the
Universe who has created us and
made us into tribes and nations
That we may know each other, not that
we may despise each other.
If the enemy incline towards peace, do
thou also incline towards peace, and
trust God, for the Lord is the one that
heareth and knoweth all things.
And the servants of God,
Most gracious are those who walk on
the Earth in humility, and when we
address them, we say "PEACE."

Native American Prayer for Peace

Almighty God, the Great Thumb we cannot evade to tie any knot;
the Roaring Thunder that splits mighty trees:
the all-seeing Lord up on high who sees
even the footprints of an antelope on
a rock mass here on Earth.
You are the one who does
not hesitate to respond to our call.
You are the cornerstone of peace.

Another Native American Prayer for Peace

Oh Great Spirit of our
Ancestors, I raise
my pipe to you.
To your messengers the four winds, and
to Mother Earth who provides
for your children.
Give us the wisdom to teach our children
to love, to respect, and to be kind
to each other so that they may grow
with peace of mind
Let us learn to share all good things that
you provide for us on this Earth.

Shinto Prayer for Peace

Although the people living
across the ocean
surrounding us, I believe
are all our brothers and sisters,
why are there constant troubles in
this world?
Why do winds and waves rise in the
oceans surrounding us?
I only earnestly wish that the wind will
soon puff away all the clouds which are
hanging over the tops of mountains.

Zoroastrian Prayer for Peace

We pray to God to eradicate all the
misery in the world:
that understanding triumph
over ignorance,
that generosity triumph over indifference,
that trust triumph over contempt, and
that truth triumph over falsehood.

Sikh Prayer for Peace

God adjudges us according
to our deeds,
not the coat that we wear:
that Truth is above everything,
but higher still is truthful living.
Know that we attaineth God when we loveth,
and only victory
endures in consequences of which no
one is defeated.

Christian Prayer for Peace

Blessed are the PEACEMAKERS,
for they shall be known as
the Children of God.
But I say to you that hear, love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you,
bless those who curse you
pray for those who abuse you.
To those that strike you on the cheek,
offer the other one also,
and from those who take away your cloak,
do not withhold your coat as well.
Give to everyone who begs from you,
and of those who take away your goods,
do not ask for them again.
And as you wish that others would do to you,
do so to them.

Theosophical Prayers for World Peace

New World Prayer - Invocation for World Peace

Avatar of Synthesis, Lord of Justice and Will
Maitreya Christ-Buddha, Avatar of the Heart
through the Spirit of Peace
come forth from the Heart of God

Let peace descend on Earth
Let peace descend on humanity
for the world has entered into a new phase
where Will and Heart do merge
and Justice and Love shall govern the Earth
in the part of humanity which strives
to live by the truth that God is Good

Feel the pulsating Love of God
Whose Love encompasses all living,
in the name of the Son-Daughter Who,
like the most radiant starlight, heal the Earth

Be healed, Earth
Be light, Earth

And let it be now!

(Written by Ananda Tara Shan 2001)

The Great Invocation (1945 edition)

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth

The Great Invocation (1989 edition)

The Great Invocation was given by the Christ to the Lord DK in 1945, and published by Alice A Bailey. In 1989 the Christ impressed upon Ananda Tara Shan this version of the Great Invocation, relating it to the new energy of Maitreya as the Rising Light of Earth as we stand now on the threshold of the Age of Maitreya. It is good to stand while saying this invocation, raising your right hand palm with facing forwards. If possible look towards the East, or if you are a group you may like to face into the centre of the circle. The use of "men' is from the theosophical term 'manas' - meaning of mind. Humanity has the opportunity to be conscious in mind, and become a co-creator with the divine in the healing and renewal of all life.

From the point of Light within the Mind of God,
There appears Maitreya as the Son of the Sun.
Let His Light stream forth into the minds of men,
Let His Light stream forth on Earth.
Redeemer, Thou hast come.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God,
There comes Maitreya the Lord of Love.
Let His Love stream forth into the hearts of men,
Christ the Risen One is here on Earth.

From the Centre where the Will of God is known,
Let the Avatar of Synthesis guide the wills of men.

Maitreya Your Purpose is clear.
Avatar of Synthesis, make Yourself known.

We serve You, Masters of the Light.

From the Centre which we call the race of men,
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out,
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Maitreya restore the Plan on Earth.

Let His Light, Love and Power be with you.
